"CONTOUR" stands for "Comet Nucleus Tour", which was a mission by NASA in 2002 to send an unmanned spacecraft closer to the heart of a comet than ever before.
Right after the solid rocket motor was ignited to send it into solar orbit though, all contact with the probe was lost. Ground-based space telescopes later discovered three unidentified objects along the course of the probe, but nobody really knows what happened to it...?
